Nosebleed

Nosebleeds, called Epistaxis, It is a common condition in childhood and usually more severe in adults.

In most children's cases is due to nasal capillary fragility and stops spontaneously or with simple measures like nasal blockage or compression. Other times it is caused by dry rhinitis, trauma, hypertensive crises, bleeding disorders of blood clotting, infections or nasal tumors.

In severe cases may require specific treatments, from cauterization or special nasal packing up to clinical admission, blood transfusion or even surgical intervention or arterial embolization.

Cauterization is a chemical burn, usually with silver nitrate, coagulating bleeding vessels through which produces healing. It is done together with the use of healing nasal ointments and sometimes has to be repeated after a couple of weeks.
